Hello!
I am Rita Avellar and the creator of the Healthy Busy Bee website.
I am a writer, content creator, a healthy lifestyle expert, a certified Health Coach by the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, a marketing expert, and a wannabe chef. That means, a completely busy bee!
After working for more than 15 years in the creative field in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, my native country, in 2014 I moved to Indianapolis, US. Right after arriving in Indy, I started facing a high stressful moment in my personal life and this made me (re) think about what I was doing with my life, about my health, and how important it is to listen to my body signs.
I was a very sick little girl. I had 9 cases of pneumonia, different types of allergies, and a low immune system. My sick childhood motivated me to research and implement a variety of holistic approaches to my lifestyle. My personal research began as young as 12 years old, learning to heal my body using natural and alternative medicine, herbs, vitamins, and food. I continued searching and learning by myself how to understand my body so well in a long journey and I almost ended up becoming a nutritionist, but I decided to study Fashion Design and everything related to communication, creativity, and writing.
The stress I was facing right after I moved to the US made me go back to my roots when it comes to natural healing. It was when I found out about IIN - the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and decided to enroll myself to study and learn about nutrition and wellness.
The idea, in the beginning, was only to study something new that I always had a lot of interest in. However, during this process, I decided to turn a personal and recent blog I had created a month before starting IIN, into my health coaching website. On this website, I could share what I have learned in my life and everything new I was absorbed during the course about health and wellness with other women who seek vitality, balance, and healthier life even in the midst of chaos, like me. The name was What Makes You Happy.

The website grew more and more, as well as the content. Also, I coached over 400 women around the world in 1-1 programs, my detox challenge, and mentoring groups. I even created an amazing Facebook group to support other health coaches, sharing my marketing expertise and creating online courses for them.
Then in 2020, the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. This episode made me think again about what I was doing with my life, and how I was truly doing something I love and believe in. It was when a great friend shared a test called Sparketype test, that identifies what makes you shine in life. It basically shows you what you should be doing with your life, like your mission on this planet. After taking the test it made I realized that I was losing track of what I was supposed to be doing here.
As the super busy woman that I have always been, I sometimes get so involved in different projects and passions that I don’t realize I am not on the right path, even if the right path is in front of me! With the result of this test I learned I needed to go back to my essence, to connect with what I always loved, and it is part of my “DNA”. Writing, sharing, being creative. And I was losing this with my beloved website.
After 4 months in this deep process of reconnection to myself, thinking about everything I’ve done in my life, professionally and personally, I decided to turn this website back to its origin. The concept was to have a healthy lifestyle website in which I could share information about how to be a busy woman but still, take care of yourself, your health, your body, and your mind.
With this process, I also decided to change the name of it and focus not only on what makes you happy (the old name of my business) nor on the old name of my website (my name), but on all the busy bees out there who want to be healthy but know they don’t have all the time in the world to plat their own garden, create their own cosmetics products or meditate for 1 hour every day. But still, look to eat better, exercise, listen to their bodies, and live a better and healthier life even during the chaos, balancing all the plates at the same time.
Then Healthy Busy Bee came to life! Here you will find content about a healthy lifestyle with a holistic approach, content from different collaborators, and health and wellness programs to help you transform your life and shift the way you think about wellbeing. All in an easy-to-apply language, uncomplicating how to have a healthy life.
I’m beyond excited and I hope you like it too!
See you around, busy bee!
xo,
Rita Avellar
